The 4th of July has always been a day full of energy and celebration, but this year

I decided to do something completely different: I celebrated it right in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, at the legendary El Squid Roe. I had heard plenty of stories about their wild parties, but experiencing it for myself, especially on such a significant day for the American community, truly exceeded every expectation.

I arrived just before 9 p.m., and the atmosphere outside was already buzzing with excitement. The venue was decked out in red, white, and blue lights, and the staff, always lively, wore star-spangled hats, glowing sunglasses, and patriotic T-shirts. The DJ had everyone moving with an electrifying mix of American pop, reggaeton, and EDM that made it impossible to stay still.

What stood out the most was how tourists and locals came together in perfect harmony. Some people danced on tables, others sang their hearts out with drinks held high, and everyone, without exception, had a smile on their face. I ended up chatting with folks from California, Texas, New York, even some travelers from Europe who had come just to experience the famous “Squid Roe energy” on the 4th of July.

At midnight, the place exploded in celebration. The staff brought out sparklers and confetti as giant screens played fireworks and a countdown for a tequila toast. It was nothing short of epic. The DJ shouted, “Happy 4th of July!” and we all raised our glasses in a collective cheer for freedom, friendship, and making the right decision, like choosing to be there.

One of the most heartfelt moments came when the MC gave a shoutout to all the expats living in Cabo and the tourists who had made this destination their temporary home. It truly felt like one big family celebrating together, regardless of where we came from.

After 1 a.m., I realized this wasn’t just a party; it was a genuine tribute to liberty, unity, and the vibrant spirit that defines both the 4th of July and El Squid Roe. Because yes, there are many ways to celebrate Independence Day, but doing it in Cabo San Lucas, with the ocean breeze, great music, and an unbeatable vibe, was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

And if you missed it this year, I highly recommend you put it on your list for next time. If there’s one place where the 4th of July becomes an unforgettable experience, it’s without a doubt El Squid Roe.
