Have you heard of the Day of San Lucas? Learn what it is we celebrate, how we celebrate this local holiday, and how you can be a part of the fun.

Did you know who Cabo San Lucas was named after? None other than Luke the Evangelist from the Four Evangelists, the four traditionally ascribed authors of the canonical gospels. He's credited with writing the most out of them all, both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles are accredited to him. Meaning Luke contributed over a quarter of the New Testament.

Each year, there is a four-day celebration starting on October 14th for the patron Saint Lucas, who's offered a boat ride on the 18th, the "great day," as the locals call it. The religious celebrations start around 4 am with the boat ride, which is our way of asking him for a prosperous year to come.

A pilgrimage takes place, that crosses the town. There are decorations, live music, and a carnival to cap the night off with games and rides for everyone to enjoy. In the foot parade you might be able to spot the Queen of the Traditional Parties of Cabo.

This year, Jennifer Guadalupe Vivero is our queen, she was crowned this Monday, October 10th. Do you think you have what it takes to be Queen? There's a few requisites: must be between 17 and 24 years of age, have knowledge of the culture, single, no kids, must be born in the municipality or have lived here for 5 consecutive years.
