Many people like to spend the holidays at home, maybe travel to see their family. But for those who like to explore the world and see different cities in different seasons, we've made this list for you.
New York, United States
There are so many things to do that are iconic to Christmas in New York, from watching them light up the tree at the Rockefeller center for the first time, window shopping on 5th Avenue, to ice skating in Central Park. You can even find places where they filmed classic Christmas movies like Elf, Home Alone 2, and Die Hard.
London, United Kingdom
Take in the light-up sights like The London Eye, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, and many more during the holidays. Go ice skating at the Natural History Museum; they even decorated the T-rex animatronic with an ugly Christmas sweater and his own massive hat! You can see the Harry Potter sets decorated for the holidays; check out their famous botanic gardens after dark, lit up for their Christmas at Kew; they have so many things to get you in the holiday spirit!
Bolzano, Italy
If you ask an Italian where to go for Christmas, they will tell you Bolzano. It's a precious city, nestled between the Italian mountains, which are covered in snow during this time of year. For the holidays, they set up a Christmas Market, which is their most awaited event of the year. You can find anything from handmade ornaments to amazing Italian cookies.
Tromsø, Norway
Regarded as one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights, you can't spend the holidays in a more magical place. They have gorgeous light displays all over town, and the town is cute as heck, to begin with. They have places for you to ice skate, go for a reindeer sleigh ride through the snowy woods, take a cable car ride to take in the whole city, visit the Tromso Ice Domes, and so much more.
Cabo, Mexico
Of course, we had to top off the list with gorgeous Cabo. It might not be a snowy wonderland, but it's a great place to escape the cold and relax with an ice-cold beer as the waves roll in. Many hotels go all out with their Christmas decor; some even have huge gingerbread houses for everyone to see. December is also a great time to see Humpback whales in Cabo, take a catamaran out or even a sunset cruise and you should be able to spot them. Most of Mexico's population is Catholic, so you can find many nativity scenes at local parks and churches. Don't forget, this is also a great place to ring in the new year! Reserve your table at El Squid Roe, or The Nowhere Bar, the wildest parties in Cabo.
These are our top picks of where to spend the holidays; what are yours?
